    When I was tinkering with Welsh the most frustrating fact is that there is no obvious "rule" for masculine or feminine. In France there are rules like -ure, or -ion is feminine and -age single syllable is feminine and -age two or more syllables is masculine. I mean. Beard in Welsh is feminine and Make up is masculine. Road vs path, what's what?? My wife's people came from Wales, her aunt spoke fluent Welsh. My wife use to sing the anthem at the opening of the Eisteddfod in her church when she was younger. I think I speak more Welsh than she does now...though every year we fry up a mess of Welsh cookies at Christmas...

    One of the last things I could do for my Father was to carry him on my shoulder with his coffin draped in a Welsh flag and the anthem playing, I will try my hardest to sing along to this.

    6:58 Da, well this is equal to yes in Russian, Romanian and Bulgarian. I'm Romanian native, but I can assure you, in our language, we only have a few words from Russian, the rest of them are quite similar with words from Italian, French, Spanish or Portuguese, as all those 5 languages are all Latin languages.

    My cousin, on his first cap for Wales, wasn’t singing along with the national anthem (the game was televised). My auntie (his mum) went absolutely BALLISTIC at him when he got home, for insulting the anthem by not singing along. You can bet your backside he sang along every single time afterwards! Moral of the story: sing your anthem, never argue with your Mammy. 😅

    • @LearnWelshPodcast
      @LearnWelshPodcast Місяць тому

      Croglith (mutated to groglith in the phrase) means the reading of the cross which was done on Good Friday. So the full phrase means Friday reading of the cross.
